Cash awards, trophies and scholarship awards, among others, will be given to the outstanding blue and white collar workers selected from among the following industry categories: 1. Basic Industries - Those companies whose primary or core business (at least 60%) is in the following areas: 2. Small Scale Industries -Those companies with capitalization of not more than Php 5 million. They can be in basic industries, manufacturing, distribution and services. The purpose of separating these companies or organizations is to give them an equal chance for the awards. 3. Manufacturing -Those companies whose primary or core business (at least 60%) is in manufacturing of products. This includes : 4. Government, Community & Social Services (including NGOs) - Those companies or organizations which provide services normally provided by government agencies or funded by non-profit organizations, or non-profit organizations themselves that are involved in providing services to the communities: 5. Services -`Those privately-owned companies or organizations whose primary or core business (at least 60%) is in providing services: 6. Distribution / Maintenance - Those companies or organizations whose primary or core business (at least 60%) is in distribution and maintenance of products, locally manufactured, locally assembled or imported. SOME OF FIRMS / AGENCIES and ORGANIZATIONS which have participated in the past Tower Awards: Over the past 25 years, the RCM has selected over 150 Tower workers from among 2,000-2,000 candidates. The TOWER Awards have received nominations from a wide range of firms and corporations of all sizes and branches of industrial activities from all over the country : San Miguel Corporation, Nestle Phils., Kimberly Clark Phils., Toyota Motors, Mitsubishi Motor Phils., Corporation, National Power Corporation, INTEL Phils., PhilPhos Fertilizer Corporation, ENRON Power Phils. Corp., Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, Johnson & Johnson Phils. Inc., PHILEX Mining Corporation, TMX Phils., MATSUSHITA Electric Phils. Corporation, TRUST International Corporation, KRADT Foods Phils, Inc., MOOG Controls Corporation, Pacific Airways Corporation, Victory Liner, KEPPEL Cebu Shipyard, Inc., Lepanto Consolidated Mining Corporation, INDO Phil. Cotton Mills Inc., STARPACK Phils. Corporation, including Small Medium Entrepreneurs, such as Goodwill Agro-Industrial Development Corporation, Central Azucarera Don Pedro, NARDA?s Handwoven Arts & Crafts, URATEX Phil., government or public service agencies such as the MERALCO, Pagadian City Water District, Manila Water Company, etc. TOWER awardees include a fisherman from Sulu, a glass forming technician, an aircraft mechanic, a construction worker in Kuwait and a hotel bellboy. How are the awardees chosen? (Qualification, nomination procedure, screening process, judges) The Nominations Committee of the TOWER Awards disseminates the nomination form with the assistance of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) through their regional network; METROBANK Foundation is disseminating the nomination forms through the nationwide branch office network. Other channels of distributing the forms and soliciting nominations include Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), as well as major sponsors of the TOWER Awards. Individuals or agencies are invited to fill in and submit the attached Nomination Form to the Nominations Committee at the address given in the form. Upon receipt of all nominations at a specified date (01 February 2001), the Screening Committee composed of RCM members, representing specialized industry and business categories, will evaluate and grade all valid nominations. Based on their evaluation, the Screening Committee will forward a shortlist of finalists to the Board of Judges for final selection. |
