SCHOLARSHIP PROJECTS

stinct and different from the various scholarships offered by the Rotary Foundation of Rotary International, RCM?s Scholarship Plan was initiated during the administration of Past President Toting del Rosario in Rotary Year 1965-1966 with an initial fund of Php13,666.70 as of June 1966.

The first product of the scholarship plan was realized during the term of the late PP Antonio Roxas Chua. 5 scholars graduated with a degree of Bachelor of Science in Management Engineering, under RCM?s Scholarship Award Project. As of RY 1971-72, there were 10 scholars produced from various universities and colleges in the Greater Manila area. Aside from the Baccalaurette scholarship through the Ateneo de Manila University, De La Salle University, University of the Philippines, and the Xavier University of Agriculture, vocational scholarship was also extended to the indigent youth of Tondo through the Don Bosco Youth Center in RY 1972-73. In Rotary Year 1986-87, the Scholarship Program was restructured from a four-year grant to a one-year vocational scholarship to give a greater number of people skills that they would quickly use to earn a living. This new program yielded 250 male and 50 female out-of-school youth of Tondo to the Don Bosco Training Center for a one-year course in industrial arts and trades.

To date, the Scholarship Project continues to reward deserving out-of-school youths of Tondo with the vocational scholarship grant annually.
